MEET THE ACKERS

Joey and Melanie began their careers working in daycares together and then became teachers in public education. They have been married for 17 years and have two wonderful children. Both of them earned their Bachelor’s and Masters degrees in education where they continue to work today! Melanie is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and is an advocate of social emotional learning and the positive impact it has on children and adults.

They both wrote the Thoughtful Bots books, a series developed to help children understand big feelings and teach social skills, and the Wonder Who Crew series together with the purpose of creating fun and engaging stories that highlight those in education. Joey illustrated both the series along with writing ‘The Worst Book in the Whole Entire World’.
